‘TuningTable’ is a radio which encapsulates the form of a 1940’s gramophone, to portray an element of class and style which gives a room character compared to other radios which are being made today.
Currently, my grandfather spends too much time trying to figure out how to use some new radios he has, and by that time, he is frustrated by product and gives up on the object and moves on to the television, (something he rarely uses as he is conscious of power usage in the household).
In order for him to engage with something efficiently, my grandfather needs to know how to use it properly, a product with visual impact which he can easily recognise.
A Gramophone is what he grew up with as a teenager, designing a radio which has the same core features as a Gramophone is the best way to grab his attention.

TuningTable is intended to be a physical presence in a room, compared to new portable radios which are commercially sold. Where people can see the elegance it holds and the significance it has being the centre of attention in the main living area the house.

The main interaction within this product is the vinyl itself. To change the frequency of the radio station, the user simply turns the vinyl to the desired position. This interaction between the user and the product is similar to what the interaction was like when the record player was first invented, to enhance the sound quality portrayed by the horn of the product.
